Core Functions

  • Provide legal advice to all University Departments;
  • Review draft internal University policies and give feedback and guidance;
  • Chairing the University Policies and Standard Operating Procedures Committee;
  • Chairing the University Regulations Committee;
  • Spearhead the internationalisation thrust of the University;
  • Chairing the University Internationalisation Committee.

Minimise legal risk for the University;

Promote compliance with relevant national and international legal and policy frameworks by the University;

Ensure ZEGU compliance with Internationalisation imperatives mostly through the University Internationalisation Committee which is mandated to:

  • Consider matters relating to the expansion of the University’s visibility, including its engagement and collaboration at the global level;
  • Provide strategic input on internationalisation within ZEGU;
  • Ensure the development of risk management strategies for international activities;
  • Act as a forum for ongoing consideration and discussion of University-wide strategic matters relating to internationalisation;
  • Provide a mechanism for the co-ordination and exchange of information regarding internationalisation across the Faculties and Departments of the University;
  • Assist in the identification of best practices in internationalisation in universities in Zimbabwe, SADC, Africa and globally;
  • Consider policies on matters relating to internationalisation and make recommendations for adoption by relevant authorities;
  • Promote interest and involvement in the internationalisation of the University by all members of the University community;
  • Provide direction on strategy and other matters pertaining to international agreements and alliances;

Receive and consider reports from Faculties and other appropriate Departments on the following:

  • International student and staff recruitment;
  • Student and staff exchange;
  • Internationalised curriculum and student experience, including opportunities for international innovation and leadership in teaching and learning;
  • Identification and building of international partnerships that advance the interests of the Faculty’s staff and students;
  • Engagement with international industry and community partners, focusing on increasing international recognition for the Faculty’s role in engagement internationally and within the University;
  • Enhancement of the profile of the Faculty’s international alumni (Zimbabwean Diaspora who studied at ZEGU and those who studied at ZEGU as international students) and involving them in the Faculty’s programmes and activities;
  • High-impact international research collaboration, including in strategic areas where supported collaboration is viable and sustainable;
  • Any other related issues.

Report regularly to the University Senate and the Marketing Committee of Council on internationalisation within ZEGU.
